Zellman, Bay Area Parent "Although many readers in the chemical, biological and physical disciplines will profit by the publication of this book, I feel that biologists stand to gain the by: I purchased this book to use as a homeschool science book on nature study.

The information is great. You can feel very confident about organizing a science lesson. There are questions to help provoke thought and dialogue.

Also, it is presented in a natural flow format. The only problem is the pictures are in black and white and therefore poor /5(57).

I use the Handbook of Nature Study as a reference for our homeschool Nature Study. The ideas contained in the introduction alone are worth the price of the book. It amazes me how valuable the nature information in this book is, even in this age of the internet.

I think it's because the author loved nature. This is more than mere information/5. The Handbook of Nature Study. I don’t actually own a physical copy of this book, but it is next on my list to add to my shelf. You can find free digital copies online. Of course, those are harder to navigate, but this book is full of information on just about everything related to nature study that you can imagine.

It would be perfect to read during any nature study of the seashore, winter, or horses. Other books by the same author that go well with nature study Nature-study book When Spring Comes, The Bear That Heard Crying, and A Farm of Her Own.

Three Days on a River in a Red Canoe by Vera B. Williams. My children have always loved this book. The Handbook of Nature Study followed through with a "Method" and that included a list of observations that students could do with a magnifying glass and a leaf covered with aphids.

My suggestion regarding Handbook of Nature Study is that if you have the book or purchase one, then be certain to use it. Nature Study Book List.
